12th Royal Coronation Ceremony in the Rattanakosin period and Thailand’s first royal coronation in nearly seven decades when H.M. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua formally ascended the throne on 4 May 2019

The royal ceremony is called Phra Ratcha Phithi Charot Phra Nangkhan Raek Na Khwan (พระราชพิธีจรดพระนังคัลแรกนาขวัญ) which literally means the “royal ploughing ceremony marking the auspicious beginning of the rice growing season”.

Wisakha Bucha, also known internationally as Vesak, is one of the holiest days in Buddhism. It marks three major events in the life of Siddhartha Gautama, the Lord Buddha: his birth, enlightenment, and death
